Grammy Award Nominees Revealed

The official nominees for the Recording Academy’s 2023 Grammy Awards were revealed yesterday – Tuesday 15 November – with singer Beyoncé leading the pack and scoring nine nominations for her chart-topping album, “Renaissance.”

The list was revealed by the award ceremony’s official website and Twitter account, to the excitement of musicians from around the world.

Coming a close second, rapper Kendrick Lamar received eight nominations for his LP, “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers”. Singer-songwriters Adele and Brandi Carlile tied for third, with both receiving seven nominations each for their respective albums.

The nominations also included several major names from the African continent, including Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, Beninese legend Angélique Kidjo and South African stars Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode.

A flood of appreciative and excited “thank you” messages appeared on Twitter in response to the announcement.

Music producer Neenyo – who collaborated with Queen Bey on her album – tweeted, “Thank you to my family, God, everyone that was apart [sic] and contributed to this special moment in culture and of course, Beyonce and the Recording Academy!”

The prestigious ceremony will be aired live on the night of 5 February 2023, from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena in California.
